Darts Equipment: Other Equipment There are a number of darts accessories that can enhance play. Few of them will directly improve your game, but the accessories may serve as a convenience, cut down on damage caused by play, or just personalize your setup. For maintenance of darts, wrenches and sharpeners are available. Wrenches make it easier to remove or attach new shafts and tips. Sharpeners remove burrs from dinged-up steel tip darts, preventing them from damaging the board when they are removed. Dart cabinets are also available. These cabinets hang on the wall and fold open to play. When not in use they can be closed up and usually have a wooden finish or decorative cover. Cabinets usually come with built-in scoreboards and space to store darts and extra parts, making them convenient as well as decorative. Players who like to take their darts with them, maybe out to the bar or over to a friend's house, can purchase dart cases that will protect dartsespecially the delicate flightsfrom damage during transportation. Dart mats are pads that run between the dartboard and the throw line, which is usually marked on the mat. The mat protects the floor, preventing darts from damaging wood or tile floors and cutting down on the wear and tear foot traffic causes to carpet. Adhesive throw lines are also available. These are stuck to the floor to denote where the players need to stand to throw. They often come pre-printed with the logo of a beer or sports team, although some are more basic.
